Getting to Know You and the Fun Facts Tag!

Happy Wednesday Everyone,

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and was able to relax a bit. This week (and last week) I took a break from baking because I wanted to focus more on my studies, especially statistics since we’re getting into really complicated stuff. I like the professor because when he teaches I actually understand it. The problem began this week, when the speed of the lecture escalated to a whole other level. All we did in class was take notes, our pens and pencils zooming back and forth in our notebooks, while we ourselves were barely able to process all of the information. So I’ve been reading the book and re-reading my notes from class to understand the concepts. I also planned dates to go in for tutoring, which I look forward to, because I find statistics fascinating.

Aside from that, I am also a little bit behind with the assignments from Blogging 101. Although I haven’t been able to keep up with the assignments itself, I’ve visited many fascinating blogs and read a lot about amazing bloggers out there. While the purpose of commenting and reading each other’s posts is mostly just to encourage and support each other, I want to really get to know you (if you’ll let me). So I’m going to do a simple 10 fun facts about me and, in turn, tag 5 other bloggers to do the same. This is completely optional, but if you are reading this I highly encourage you to tell me 10 things about you down below (and don’t forget to link your blog if you have one!).

Therefore, I tag:

  1. Not Your Average Nobody
  2. ELIJUMA
  3. Quotations, Idioms & Proverbs
  4. The Sunny C
  5. High Hopes

Fun Facts About Me

1. I taught myself how to play the piano/read music for 5 years and baking for 8 years.

2. My favorite authors are Khaled Hosseini and Haruki Murakami. I have all three of Hosseini’s books; while I loved The Kite Runner, I was able to relate to A Thousand Splendid Suns more. I also own three of Murakami’s works: 1Q84, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, and Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage.

3. My favorite song is Ordinary World by Duran Duran. I have absolutely no idea why.

4. I love animals. When I was younger I had a pet crab, several goldfishes, about 30 baby chicks, about 10 ducklings, a parakeet, a hamster, a mouse, a pigeon, and several rabbits. I think that is it…or maybe I had more, but I just don’t remember. In high school, my friend and I used to visit Monster Pets after school just to play with the dogs and look at the rabbits and cats.

5. I have two younger sisters and am the eldest of all three. My middle sister is very intelligent and studious; she excels at everything she does (i.e. Chemistry, Physics, AP Chemistry, Precalculus, etc) and I’m proud of her. The younger one can be characterized as ‘the free bird’ out of all of us. Compared to me and my middle sister, she is a social butterfly and her social life makes me feel like I have no life!

6. I am very, very introverted. But I have improved a whole lot since high school, I think mostly because when I entered college my confidence boosted. Being involved in a lot of organizations and having a real job also helped me put myself ‘out there’ more.

7. I love children and working with children. Some people are apprehensive about working with children, sometimes because they don’t know what to do or where to start with them. Personally, I feel like if you just talk to them and show interest in what they’re doing they’ll warm-up to you. However, each child is different.

8. My biggest supporter is Mr. W. He reads my blog as soon as new posts are up, and even helps me edit them sometimes! Just yesterday he surprised me with a tripod for my camera so that I can film more videos. I feel so lucky to have him in my life and I am so grateful to have someone in my life who understands me and knows me so well. So if you are reading this, thank you so much for everything!

9. Some of my favorite TV shows: Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Madam Secretary, State of Affairs, Once Upon a Time, Arrow, The Flash, Reign, DC Cupcakes, The Great British Baking Show, etc.

10. Some of my favorite musicians: Idan Raichel, Coldplay, Radiohead, Jim Croce, Norah Jones, Patsy Cline, The Ronettes, Jhene Aiko, The Weeknd, Joss Stone, Alt-J, Jah Cure, Yuna, Zee Avi, Lana Del Rey, Paolo Nutini, Movits!, Nina Simone, MGMT, Bon Iver, Taylor Swift, etc. I’m very eclectic when it comes to music. I love everything from alternative, country, classical, rap, to world music, and so much more.

This is quite a long post, so if you’re still reading, thank you! You now know a bit about me, so tell me about you!

      1. Thanks; I will let you know, wait for further instructions. At present, I am counting you, Shweta, Katho, & Celina(Still I have not received reply from her; but sooner or later she will respond.) & few more good bloggers to whom I will contact.
Regarding your reply in comment “But I’m not sure if I’ve reached such a point in blogging yet”~
Good quality of great people always humble & modest; no matter how far they have gone.
Do I need to say anything more?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. I really appreciate that you’ve tagged me 😀 Sorry for the late reply though, school’s been rather hectic, and it’s just going to get worse 😦

Here are 10 little facts about me:
    1) I like sketching and doodling a lot, but up to this day I still can’t draw people right. Be it the eyes, hand, fingers, or even the proportions, the people I draw simply turn out… weird. 😦
    2) I’m currently studying Electrical Engineering in the National University of Singapore, and I’m in my first year! Even so, I’m already swamped with schoolwork. Argh.
    3) My favourite colour is blue. All shades of blue actually, from baby blue to turquoise to navy blue, I love them all 😀
    4) I love comics. I’m not a die-hard fan that reads every single comic book or remembers all the superheroes, and I’m more of a DC comics fan than a Marvel one. That said, I think both DC and Marvel heroes are great, and I really wish that in the years to come, there’ll be a movie crossover for both companies XD
Just 1 bad thing about knowing stuff from the comics – it’s a bit of a spoiler for the shows the Flash and Arrow. I won’t spoil anything, but I just need to say that a certain Dr. Harrison Wells doesn’t appear in the comics. Or perhaps he does, with a different name >:D
    5) I have a weird habit of listening to random genres of music when I’m studying or playing games on my computer. Skipping from pop, to classical, to game soundtracks (they really great for studying, weirdly), and anything else.
    6) I used to read a lot, but now I just can’t find to time to do so. Not even comics anymore 😦
    7) I’ve almost kicked the habit of procrastination! Turns out that the best way to do so was to repeatedly remind myself to keep up everything and not fall behind. And I know full well what happens when I start slacking – Giving up on all exams! 😀
    8) I watch anime when I’m free, and my favourite anime so far is Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. Tears were shed when I finished. :’D
    9) I wanted to be a graphic designer when I grow up. It’s just a dream of mine, I really don’t think that would ever happen. Currently my standards are so low, that I’ll be satisfied if I simply pass university.
    10) I love gaming. Not just because they’re fun to me, but some games have such compelling stories, beautiful settings, creative game mechanics, and memorable characters that make me wish that I had all the money and time in the world to play them all. (Fun fact: There’s a game called Bioshock, which is inspired from the book “Atlas Shrugged”. Then there’s Bioshock Infinite, my favourite game of all time :D)

This is a long comment :O Apologies to anyone if the facts about me are too mundane and boring. Not Your Average Nobody, signing off! Have a great day ahead! 😀

    1. Thank you for replying, and I love long comments!
Oh my gosh, I just started watching the recent episode of the Arrow and I really want to know what happened to Tatsu. I can’t wait for The Flash next week! I did notice how Dr. Harrison Wells seemed a little bit off. I have a feeling he is the reverse flash…am I right?
I can understand being swamped with schoolwork, since I am in the same boat :/ The only time I have to myself is during breaks in between classes and a few hours in weekend evenings.

What makes you want to be a graphic designer? If it’s something you love and enjoy doing you should pursue it when you have the time ^_^ Plus, being a Graphic Designer/Engineer sounds really cool.

Anyhoo, I really appreciate you taking the time to reply 🙂
      Good luck with your studies!

      Best,
      Stephanie

      1. I love the Fountainhead as well. That was actually the first book from Ayn Rand that I ever read. From the Fountainhead I moved on to Altas Shrugged whose controversial characters I adore to this day. Rand also wrote a great book called We the living. You should check it out sometime.

        1. Sure, I am big fan of Ayn Rand, though, apart from these two books, still, I have not read any book written by the same author; I am always at a confusion that what should be read first and what should be read next and my pending list growing everyday.
There are so many to read and little time to read.
I am glad that both of us met here, I am big fan of “Stephanie Tania’s” blog, what do you think?

    1. Hi Sounja,

Nice to meet you, and thank you for sharing! First I have to ask, what kinds of cats do you have?
I also have #5 in common with you 🙂 While I do love a good adventure every now and then, I spend most of my free time lounging at home.

Your blog is amazing…scratch that…YOU are amazing. I have always wanted to learn programming, web development, and coding…but I never seem to get around to it. Maybe one day…

I also really enjoyed reading your post about Puss. The picture of him with the beanie babies melt my heart! Will there be more cat pictures in future posts? 😉

Thank you for dropping by and posting!

      1. Yes! There will be more cat pictures to come. My three cats are a huge part of my life.

I have Puss, who is a domestic medium hair black. He will be 15 years old this year and aside from missing his upper canine teeth, he is still going strong!

Then I have MaryGold, a calico domestic short hair. You can see a picture of her on my first post “A Life Without Challenge” ( https://sounjawalters2.wordpress.com/2015/01/03/a-life-without-challenge/) because I mention her in that post. MaryGold is my bottle baby, meaning that I found her when she was so small she had to be fed from a tiny kitten bottle! MaryGold also has epilepsy which keeps our lives interesting!

Finally I have SnapDragon. He is 8 months old, orange and white domestic short hair. He is hell on wheels but I absolutely love him. I will be sharing pics of him in the future.

Thanks for taking and interest in my cats and thank you for the compliments on my blog!

  3. Stephanie,
First of all thanks for your TAG; I am considering myself fortunate that; you considered me as a one person of your “Inner or Close Circle”; I will always try (not assuring) to live up to your expectations.
Frankly speaking; your post is wonderful and through your post, I came to know; lot about a person to whom, I respect from bottom of my heart.
Only one problem; this post and answer of this post; requires lots of attention and deep-thinking and time; so, I hope; you will not mind, if I will reply this post in installment (looking to your nature and previous interaction with you, I am quiet sure, you will not mind it; typical quality of true friend, isn’t it).
First Fun Fact about ME :
I am having great fond of reading books, initially, it was fond but over the years; it has become addiction; and now a days; it has reached up to the extent, that; I cannot imagine my life without reading books.
Till today, I have read nearly hundreds of books; I like and love to read books of any genre, but; if given choice; I will prefer to read self-help, Self-development, motivational books written by trained & trustworthy authors.
Though there are many books, to whom, I admire; but specifically speaking; some books which really touched my heart ” The Secret” Author: Rhonda Byrne; “Limitless” Author: NICK VUJICIC; “The Alchemist” Author: Paulo Coelho; “The Fountainhead” & “Atlas Shrugged” Author: Ayn Rand; “Good to Great: “Why Some Companies Make the Leap…and Others Don’t”-Author: James C. Collins.
Believe me these are the small tips of iceberg; apart from these; there are many many books, I love and like to read, but at present whatever, I remember, I write here ; because, since last ten years I am reading books, so, frankly speaking, I don’t have any track of events.
By the way, thanks for reminding me about “Kite Runner”, since last so many months, I am thinking to read about it, but, now, I have to read it immediately, because, now my ROLE MODEL(Stephanie Tania) read, so, I must read it.
    “IS IT ENOUGH FOR TODAY”?,
Be rest assured, I will come back……………..
